Professor Garth Cruickshank
Garth Cruickshank is the Professor of Neurosurgery in the School
of Cancer Sciences University of Birmingham and at the Queen
Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
He trained at the Royal Free Hospital in London after obtaining
his PhD in Pharmacology, and carried out his Specialist training in
Neurosurgery and developed his neuro-oncology research in Glasgow
before taking up the Chair in Birmingham in 1997.
As well as leading his local MDT, he has been involved with
cancer service delivery through commissioning support for many
years and with NICE in delivering the IOG in Brain CNS Cancers in
2006. He has served on the NCRI CSG for Brain and CNS tumours for
10 years and represented the SBNS on the RCS Cancer Services
Committee since 2009 providing regular commissioning updates.
He Chairs the DVLA neurology panel and recently completed his 10
years term as an Intercollegiate Examiner for FRCS (SN). In 2015 he
joined the council of BASO.
