BASO is one of the oldest cancer surgery associations, founded
in 1971 to further the philosophy that the management of malignant
disease was becoming a multidisciplinary challenge. The association
has since developed and expanded to advance the science, practice,
and art of surgical oncology for the benefit of patients and
relatives with cancer; and to promote research, training, and
education in surgical oncology and to disseminate the useful
results of that research appropriately.
