The British Journal of Surgery Lecture and Prize

The British Journal of Surgery Society Ltd (BJS) is a registered charity, through which support is provided to surgical bodies, thereby advancing and improving education in surgery, diffusing knowledge on new and improved methods of teaching and practicing surgery in all its branches. The Society provides support for invited lectureships and surgical prizes.

The British Journal of Surgery Society Ltd has kindly agreed to support a Lecture and Prize again in 2017. The proffered paper prize for 2017 is £600.

BJS Lectureship

2017 Mr Andrew Hayes and Professor Derek Manas presented a debate on "This house believes that centralisation of Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Surgery into a very small number of Quaternary centres is necessary for a good outcome for patients with this disease".

2016  Cheng-Har Yip, Malaysia presented lecture on "Challenges in the management of breast cancer in low and middle income countries".

2015  Professor John Potter, Seattle, USA deliverd the lecture on "Nutrition and Cancer: getting the model right".
